Swiss genetics in vivo: when international visitors see breeding on farm
Alizée Sauron, Project Manager International
On the occasion of OLMA, the Kaderli family farm welcomed 100 international visitors, including 75 from Germany and 25 from Italy. At Expo Bulle, 30 breeders accompanied by the managers from our subsidiary Biagen, together with a group of Portuguese breeders, also had the opportunity to discover Swiss genetics directly on farm.
Swiss genetics at first hand
These visits give participants a valuable opportunity to see Swiss genetics at work in real life. Seeing the animals in their usual environment, talking to breeder families and understanding the results of breeding work in everyday practice: nothing can replace the experience of a farm visit. This is where genetics become tangible, in the barn, among the animals and alongside the people who work with them every day.
Understanding the strengths of Swissgenetics on farm
For visitors from abroad, this kind of immersion offers a better understanding of the strengths of Swissgenetics and creates a direct link with the reality of Swiss cattle breeding. It also shows the importance of the work carried out by breeders: selection, cow family development, animal quality, functionality and adaptation to the needs of modern farms.
Committed farms at the heart of the approach
These visits would not be possible without the support of committed farms that open their gates with generosity and pride. Thanks to their warm welcome, Swissgenetics can present its genetics where they are seen to best effect: in direct contact with the animals, the breeders and day to day farm practice.
These moments encourage exchange, build relationships and strengthen ties with our international partners. A big thank you to all the breeder families who make these visits possible.
