Visit to Honduras by Swissgenetics: A strong partner for genetics from Switzerland!

Farmers are becoming more professional and efficient year by year. Artificial insemination plays an important role in advanced milk production. Genetics from Switzerland contribute greatly to this!

Technology for dairy farming translates into efficiency!

Thomas Feitknecht, Head of International

Tecnología Lechera has been our distributor in Honduras for nearly 20 years. Swissgenetics offers a wide range of dairy and dual-purpose breeds as well as SILIAN doses (combination of the best Simmental Beef, Limousin and Angus bulls) and about 80% of them are Brown Swiss. NORWIN, AMIR and ALASKO were the best-selling bulls of 2023. Tecnología Lechera was also one of the first international partners to order doses of the Red Holstein bull THERMO SL P. With his Slick gene (increased heat resistance) THERMO P is very well suited for tropical regions. Interest in sexed semen continues to grow and Tecnología Lechera is one of the leading partners in South America currently ordering the highest number of sexed semen doses! The young and professional sales team under the leadership of Darwin Rubi totally embodies the motto “¡Tecnología Lechera es eficiencia!” (Tecnología Lechera means efficiency!).

Huge interest in Swissgenetics

David Hauri, insemination technician at Swissgenetics

The wide range of Swiss breeding programmes and the extensive Swissgenetics offer was presented to an audience of 40 committed dairy breeders. A further 1,700 people from across Latin America followed the presentation with great interest via a live Facebook transmission. The event provided a platform for stimulating discussions with insemination technicians, vets and even farmers. There was a particular focus on the nationwide insemination network and the proven testing system in Switzerland which for almost 60 years has constituted the basis for the successful Swiss cattle breeding. For many attendees the visit by Swissgenetics clarified the many benefits and diverse opportunities presented by artificial insemination. Many expressed the desire to increase their use of this modern technology.

Another enthralling presentation was given at the prestigious Zamorano University. This private agricultural university was founded over 80 years ago and enjoys an excellent reputation across South America. In addition to its role as a training institution, the university is also a significant research facility. Our innovative testing system along with the excellent Swiss agriculture were of particular interest in this regard.
